Bleak Theology A post-punk counterweight to joy.

Art, the Salve.

A

As you can guess, Holy Week stresses me out to the point that for a time afterward I feel like I have some unceasing tuning fork in my hands. Today is no different. And it seems that it would be best to stop talking about the difficulty to fathom everything and to just look at art for a while. Art runs deep for me. And it is the creation and reflection and enjoyment of it that functions in a wondrous way. Sometimes, you just have to stop talking and look at art.

As a salve for the tumult, here are some paintings from He Qi, whose work I’ve loved for some time.
